Double Eye Lid / Slit Eye Procedure

Double eye lid surgery, commonly known as slit eye procedure, is commonly requested by Oriental patients such as Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans, or patients with poorly developed upper eyelid folds. The procedure creates a well-defined slightly slanted upper eyelid fold, resulting in brighter and youthful looking upper eyelids. Incisions are oriented in the natural fold of the eyes, and the procedure usually lasts for 30 to 60 minutes. This is done under local anesthesia. There could be some swelling and bluish discoloration on the first two to three days after the procedure. The swelling and bruising will usually subside after one to two weeks, and the thin surgical scars will become less visible and gradually blend into your eyes’ natural lines. Sutures are removed on the third to fifth day after the operation.
